Why have I not been blogging? This poem written today as I begin to emerge from the depth of fatigue may explain.
The Weight of Fatigue
Joan C. King
A heaviness presses upon me
but not from without
from the interior.
The core of my being,
empty,
feels crushed by
its weight.
Days go on and
the weight remains.
Then it seems to be
somewhat lighter for a bit
but soon even the
lighter weight
crushes the
interior of my being.
I experience the many
levels of weight
of fatigue
until finally
the weight truly begins
to lift.
Then, life surges in,
if only for a few moments
and I remember
the buoyancy of life.
